US Patent:
6849830, Feb 1, 2005
Filed:
Aug 25, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/648066
Inventors:
Dominick Damiano - Danbury CT, US
Brita Frangsmyr Sheehan - New Milford CT, US
Hua Zhang - New Milford CT, US
Assignee:
Nestec S.A. - Vevey
International Classification:
H05B 368
A47J 3624
US Classification:
219386, 219487, 219485, 219494, 219497, 99372, 99380
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for vending food products in food outlets. The method includes the steps of providing a heating cavity having thermal conductive heating surfaces; placing a container including the food product into the heating cavity, the container engaging at least a first and second surfaces of the thermal conductive heating surfaces; resistively energizing the heating surfaces for heating the food product through conduction of thermal energy to produce a heated food product; and opening the container and serving the heated food product. The invention also relates to a portable, compact and space saving heating apparatus.

US Patent:
7412921, Aug 19, 2008
Filed:
Dec 2, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/001060
Inventors:
Corey Arrick - New Milford CT, US
Eugene Scoville - New Milford CT, US
John Bernardi - New Milford CT, US
Brita Frangsmyr Sheehan - New Milford CT, US
William F. Overbaugh - Lakeside CT, US
Ennio Bardin - Orbe, CH
Randall C. Chrisman - Southbury CT, US
Assignee:
Nestec S.A. - Vevey
International Classification:
A47J 31/00
US Classification:
99295, 99323, 426 77
Abstract:
The invention relates to a capsule for the preparation of a beverage obtained by supplying hot water within the capsule under pressure and releasing the beverage from the capsule. The capsule includes a food substance therein, a first surface adapted to be traversed by a flow of water entering the capsule, and a second surface adapted to be traversed by a flow of beverage exiting the capsule. The second surface is adapted to deform outwardly upon action of the inside water pressure thereon. Also, that surface includes at least one opening member capable of deforming inwards the capsule upon a mechanical reaction force applied from outside onto the closure member as a result of the deformation of the second surface due to the build-up of the inside pressure.

Microwave Heating Attachment

US Patent:
7491416, Feb 17, 2009
Filed:
Mar 3, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/790814
Inventors:
Hua Zhang - New Milford CT, US
Brita F. Sheehan - New Milford CT, US
Mark A. Williamson - New Milford CT, US
Robert Croft - Jersey City NJ, US
Martin Short - Brooklyn NY, US
Assignee:
Nestec S.A. - Vevey
International Classification:
B65B 11/00
US Classification:
426107, 426111, 426115, 426118, 426122, 219729, 219730, 219732
Abstract:
A heating attachment for improving uniformity of microwave heating of a food product in a food container. The heating attachment has a microwave shield of microwave-reflective material. An attachment member is configured for attaching the shield to a food container in an operative association in which the container is disposed in a heating space by the shield. In this association, the shield improves the uniformity of microwave heating of a food product within the container. The heating attachment sufficiently surrounds the container in the operative association to capture the container for promoting breakage of the heating attachment when the container is removed therefrom to inhibit or prevent reuse of the heating attachment.

Formable Thermoplastic Laminate Heating Tray Assembly Suitable For Heating Frozen Food

US Patent:
20020043525, Apr 18, 2002
Filed:
Oct 11, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/975573
Inventors:
Keith Laken - Winona MN, US
John Schlesselman - Fountain City WI, US
Theodore Arx - La Crescent MN, US
Dominick Damiano - Danbury CT, US
Brita Sheehan - New Milford CT, US
Hua Zhang - New Milford CT, US
International Classification:
H05B003/18
US Classification:
219/386000, 219/543000
Abstract:
A heating element assembly in the form of a heating tray and a method of manufacturing heating tray assemblies. The heating tray may be used for defrosting and heating pans such as so-called “half-pans” of frozen food products. The preferred heating tray is configured to fit precisely around a standard thin foil half-pan container, thus optimizing heat transfer between the heating tray and the food product. The varied surface watt density of the heating tray allows for accurate heat placement such that the food product can be evenly warmed while avoiding over warming or burning, particularly at the corners and edges. A preferred embodiment of the heating tray includes two resistance heating elements. The first heating element is a temperature booster used for defrosting and heating, while the second heating element is a maintenance heater to maintain heated food at a serving temperature.
