Wearable Respiration Management Device

View page
US Patent:
20200360651, Nov 19, 2020
Filed:
May 16, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/414048
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kemal Kulovic - Arlington MA, US
John Andrew Trotter - Sudbury MA, US
International Classification:
A61M 21/02
A61B 5/08
A61B 5/00
Abstract:
Various implementations include wearable devices and methods for managing respiration and user health. In some particular implementations, a wearable device includes: a mount sized to couple with a body part of a user; and a housing coupled with the mount. The housing at least partially contains: a contact element for applying pressure to the body part; and an actuator coupled with the contact element, the actuator configured to actuate the contact element in applying pressure to the body part according to a prescribed pattern. The prescribed pattern includes at least two repetitions, each repetition having: a first segment at a progressively increasing pressure; a second segment at a substantially constant pressure, following the first segment; a third segment at a progressively decreasing pressure, following the second segment; and a fourth segment at a substantially constant pressure that is less than the substantially constant pressure of the second segment.

Acoustic Transducer As A Near-Field Magnetic Induction Coil

View page
US Patent:
20190349660, Nov 14, 2019
Filed:
May 11, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/977498
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kemal KULOVIC - Arlington MA, US
International Classification:
H04R 1/10
H04R 3/04
H04B 5/00
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure provide an electro-acoustic transducer that serves as an acoustic transducer and as an NFMI coil. The use of a single coil eliminates the need for a dedicated NFMI coil, thereby reducing design complexity and cost of production. Circuity is provided to allow selective filtering of acoustic and NFMI signals so the acoustic and NFMI signals may coexist in a frequency-divisional multiplexing fashion on a same electro-acoustic transducer coil.

Audio Signal Transmission

US Patent:
20190069082, Feb 28, 2019
Filed:
Aug 22, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/683214
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Christopher A. Barnes - Saugus MA, US
Kemal Kulovic - Arlington MA, US
John Lloyd Goodman - Bellingham MA, US
International Classification:
H04R 3/00
H01R 24/64
H01R 13/66
Abstract:
A method of transferring audio signals from an analog audio source to an audio sink, where the audio sink has a multiple-pin connector. A cable is coupled to the audio source and to the multiple-pin connector of the audio sink, where the cable is constructed and arranged to carry audio signals. The audio sink detects a return signal provided to the audio sink over the cable, where the audio sink is configured to interpret the receipt of a return signal as indicating that an audio source is operably connected to the audio sink by the cable. Responsive to this detecting, the audio sink receives audio signals from the audio source over the cable.

On/Off Head Detection Using Magnetic Field Sensing

View page
US Patent:
20170374448, Dec 28, 2017
Filed:
Jun 22, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/189649
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kemal Kulovic - Arlington MA, US
International Classification:
H04R 1/10
H04R 3/00
H04R 29/00
Abstract:
An on/off head detection system uses magnetic field intensity to determine a configuration, position and/or orientation of a headphone, including whether a headphone is on or off a wearer's head. The system includes a magnetic field sensor configured to detect a magnetic field emitted by a magnetic field source associated with an earpiece of the headphone. A control module determines an intensity of the magnetic field and whether the intensity of the magnetic field has reached a threshold. An operational mode associated with the headphone or an associated device is performed in response to the intensity of the magnetic field reaching the threshold.

Filed:
Mar 31, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/088020
Inventors:
- FRAMINGHAM MA, US
KEMAL KULOVIC - ARLINGTON MA, US
International Classification:
H04R 1/10
H04R 29/00
G06F 3/16
Abstract:
An on/off head detection system uses magnetic field intensity to determine a configuration, position, and/or orientation of a headphone. In some implementations, the system may determine whether a headphone is on or off a user's head. The system includes a magnetic field sensor configured to detect a magnetic field emitted by a magnetic field source associated with an earpiece of the headphone. A control module determines an intensity of the magnetic field and whether the intensity of the magnetic field satisfies a threshold. An operational mode associated with the headphone or an associated device is performed in response to the intensity of the magnetic field satisfying the threshold.
