Rear Sight For An Archery Bow

View page
US Patent:
8122608, Feb 28, 2012
Filed:
Nov 4, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/612219
Inventors:
Melvin Deien - Breese IL, US
International Classification:
F41G 1/00
US Classification:
33265, 124 87
Abstract:
A rear sight for archery bows. The rear sight is adjustable to the archer's aiming, non-dominant eye and dominant shooting hand. The sight comprises a mounting bracket, a forward sight positioner, a rear sight positioner, a sight assembly and a light assembly. The mounting bracket and rear sight positioner are configured for selective choosing by the archer to use an aiming eye of the archer in conjunction with an oppositely matched shooting hand. In particular, the sight allows the archer to manipulate the rear sight positioner for left eye/right hand or right eye/left hand handling of the bow for subsequent alignment of the sight with the forward sight.

Compound Bow Rifle Sight System

US Patent:
20040088872, May 13, 2004
Filed:
Aug 26, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/648639
Inventors:
Melvin Deien - Breese IL, US
International Classification:
F41G001/467
US Classification:
033/265000
Abstract:
A bow sight system includes a bow sight assembly adjustably mounted to a base plate. The bow sight can include a conventional forward sight, such as a pin sight and a V shaped rear sight. Sighting through the V shaped rear sight groove will allow the archer to see the forward sight if the bow and archer are in proper alignment. A misalignment will cause the groove to obscure the archer's view of the forward sight preventing a misaligned shot. Unlike prior art peep sights, the V groove rear sight allows the archer to have an almost unlimited view of the target field such that the archer can quickly acquire a target. Illuminated alignment marks positioned on either side of the V groove ease the archer's ability to aim in low light conditions. The rear sight can also obscure unused pins of a multiple pin front sight and can also give an indication of target distance based on the number of pins of a multiple pin system visible. The rear sight can be retrofit to an existing bow with a forward sight or can be original equipment on a new bow.

US Patent:
20140158106, Jun 12, 2014
Filed:
Dec 12, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/711733
Inventors:
Melvin J. Deien - Breese IL, US
International Classification:
F41G 1/467
F41B 5/14
US Classification:
124 87, 33265
Abstract:
A rear sight for a bow comprising a sighting window including a frame and a magnification and clarification lens disposed within the frame. The lens is for magnifying and clarifying an archer's view of a target and of a sighting pin of a front sight. The sighting window further includes a V-shaped sight guide disposed on the lens, wherein the V-shaped sight guide includes two opposing legs that are connected to define a V-notch between the legs. The V-shaped sight guide is configured to insure that the archer is “in form” when aiming the bow at the target. Furthermore, the sighting window includes at least one pair of alignment dots disposed in distal end portions of the legs, wherein the alignment dots are configured to provide the archer with reverence points to which the archer can align a head of the sighting pin when aiming the bow at the target.
