Jul 28, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/627879
Inventors:
George T. Heskey - Derry NH
Raymond G. Lavoie - Pembroke NH
Gordon L. Steltzer - New Boston NH
Assignee:
FCI USA, Inc. - Etters PA
International Classification:
B21J 914
US Classification:
7245316, 60477
Abstract:
A hydraulically actuated tool comprising a frame; a hydraulic fluid pump connected to the frame; a ram movably connected to the frame and adapted to be moved relative to the frame by hydraulic fluid pumped by the pump; and a hydraulic fluid reservoir connected to the pump. The reservoir is located proximate an exterior portion of the frame along a path of at least about 180Â0 relative to a longitudinal axis of the tool. The reservoir does not extend beyond a rear end of the frame.

Electrical Terminal Connector

View page
US Patent:
59577339, Sep 28, 1999
Filed:
Jun 25, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/882095
Inventors:
Keith F. Mello - Manchester NH
Raymond G. Lavoie - Manchester NH
Christopher G. Chadbourne - Nashua NH
William J. Lasko - Littleton NH
Roger H. Hanks - Littleton NH
Assignee:
Framatome Connectors USA, Inc. - Fairfield CT
International Classification:
H01R 436
US Classification:
439814
Abstract:
An electrical terminal connector comprising a connector body and a set screw. The connector body has a block section with a conductor receiving passageway. The set screw is connected to the block section to intersect the conductor receiving passageway. The block section further defines a porthole extending therethrough. The porthole intersects the conductor receiving passageway forming a lower recess therein. When a conductor is inserted into the conductor receiving passageway, the recess receives a portion of the conductor which is clamped down upon by the set screw.

Articulating Embossing Die

View page
US Patent:
57787743, Jul 14, 1998
Filed:
Dec 18, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/768431
Inventors:
Raymond G. Lavoie - Manchester NH
Assignee:
Framatome Connectors USA Inc. - Fairfield CT
International Classification:
B31F 107
B41J 1120
US Classification:
101 28
Abstract:
A compression tool embossing die having a frame and a movable embossing pad. The frame has a U-shaped member and two side plates attached to opposite ends of the U-shaped member. The side plates have slots therein. The embossing pad has an embossing pad member, a dowel and a backstop. The dowel has its ends movably located in the slots of the side plates. The pad member has two wedge shaped slots in its bottom surface. The die further comprises two springs located in the wedge shaped slots and biasing the embossing pad at a first position on the frame.

Piggyback Set Of I-Beam Connector Dies

View page
US Patent:
56494459, Jul 22, 1997
Filed:
May 12, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/439783
Inventors:
Raymond Lavoie - Manchester NH
David P. Gouveia - Manchester NH
Assignee:
Burndy Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
B21D 3702
US Classification:
72413
Abstract:
A set of dies for crimping the connector to a structural member, such as an I-beam. The set of dies includes a pair of crimping dies provided within a compression for crimping tool. A pair of removable embossing dies is inserted into the crimping tool to initially emboss the surfaces of an I-beam flange. The embossing dies are removed and the connector is installed on the flange of the I-beam. The tool is positioned over the connector, and the crimp is made. Henceforth, pressure is applied to the tool by the crimping dies which would then crimp the connector in place.

Removal Tool

View page
US Patent:
60474645, Apr 11, 2000
Filed:
Jun 18, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/099168
Inventors:
Richard Chadbourne - Merrimack NH
Raymond G. Lavoie - Manchester NH
Assignee:
Framatome Connectors USA, Inc. - Fairfield CT
International Classification:
B23P 1900
US Classification:
29764
Abstract:
A removal tool is operable for separating components of an assembled electrical connector used for connecting electrical conductors together. The electrical connector includes a tapered connector sleeve having a general "C" cross section with a slot defining a stop ledge and a wedge having a latching ledge which engages the stop ledge when inserted into the slot preventing removal of the wedge. The removal tool with a first block member includes outwardly projecting ears for selective insertion into the slot for engagement with the stop ledge. A second block member includes outwardly projecting slide pins. The first block member is slidably received on the slide pins for movement toward and away from the second block member, a removal blade on the second block member having a tapered nose member projecting toward the first block member and an integral shoulder on the second block member facing the first block member and spaced from the removal blade in a direction away from the first block member. When the assembled electrical connector is positioned on the removal tool with the ears projecting into the slot of the connector sleeve and the tapered nose member is inserted between the wedge and the connector sleeve, movement of the first block member toward the second block member causes the latching ledge of the wedge to disengage from the stop ledge. With continued movement of the first block member toward the second block member the shoulder engages the wedge and forces its removal from the connector sleeve.

Hydraulic Spike Puller With Frictionally Delayed Moving Jaws And Blocking Jaw Front Shape

View page
US Patent:
61130737, Sep 5, 2000
Filed:
Jun 22, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/338417
Inventors:
John David Lefavour - Litchfield NH
Raymond G. Lavoie - Pembroke NH
Assignee:
Framatome Connectors USA, Inc. - Etters PA
International Classification:
B25C 1100
US Classification:
254 18
Abstract:
A hydraulic spike puller comprising a frame with a chute, a hydraulic drive section connected to the frame, and a spike contacting section connected to the hydraulic drive section and movably located in the chute. The improvement comprises the spike contacting section comprising two jaws pivotably connected to each other and a friction system extending from the jaws and contacting opposite interior sides of the chute. The jaws each have a spike contacting claw section which, when the jaws are in an open position, have a back surface adjacent an interior side of the chute to block an area between the chute and the back surface. The claw sections have substantially non-curved bottom faces which, when the jaws are in the open position, can push a spike out of the chute. The claw sections are shaped to prevent a spike from being caught between the chute and the back surfaces of the claw sections.

Dual Location Handle And Trigger For A Hand-Held Power Tool

View page
US Patent:
60706767, Jun 6, 2000
Filed:
Aug 13, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/133638
Inventors:
H. Thomas Nelson - Bedford NH
Del S. Schultz - Erin WI
Raymond G. Lavoie - Manchester NH
Gordon L. Steltzer - New Boston NH
Assignee:
Framatome Connectors International - Paris
International Classification:
B26B 700
US Classification:
173170
Abstract:
An operating handle system for a hand-held power tool comprises an operating handle including first and second courses enabling it to be gripped in first and second orientations, respectively. A trigger is movably attached to the operating handle for movement between an operative position for energizing a motor for driving an operating element such as a grinding wheel and an inoperative position at which the motor is de-energized. The trigger includes a first portion associated with the first course and spaced therefrom when the trigger is in the inoperative position and contiguous therewith when in the operative position. The trigger includes a second portion associated with the second course when the trigger is in the inoperative position and contiguous therewith when in the operative position. The first and second courses are mutually perpendicular as are the first and second portions. The trigger is pivotally attached to the operating handle such that when the trigger is in the inoperative position, the first portion and the first course are angularly disposed and the second portion and the second course are angularly disposed, and such that when the trigger is in the operative position, the first portion and the first course are contiguous, and the second portion and the second course are contiguous.
