US Patent:
8175753, May 8, 2012
Filed:
Feb 13, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/378424
Inventors:
Stephen D. Sawczak - Elizabeth PA, US
Todd Komlenic - Beaver PA, US
Michael Adams - Pittsburgh PA, US
Assignee:
The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
G05D 23/00
US Classification:
700276, 361694, 361695, 361699, 454184, 454187
Abstract:
Methods of managing computer equipment: the methods may comprise receiving data indicating a power dissipated by computer equipment in a portion of the server room and receiving data indicating an actual airflow through the portion of the server room. The methods may also comprise calculating a target airflow in the portion of the server room considering the power dissipated by computer equipment in the portion of the server room and an expected difference in temperature between at least one hot aisle and at least one cold aisle in the portion of the server room, and calculating a recommended action for reaching the target airflow. The recommended action may be selected from the group consisting of: changing a static pressure generated by at least one cooling unit servicing the portion of the server room; changing a number of perforated tiles present in the portion of the server room; and changing the type of one or more perforated tiles present in the portion of the server room. The methods may also comprise displaying the recommended action and/or implementing the recommended action.

US Patent:
8201028, Jun 12, 2012
Filed:
Feb 13, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/378414
Inventors:
Stephen D. Sawczak - Elizabeth PA, US
Todd Komlenic - Beaver PA, US
Michael Adams - Pittsburgh PA, US
Assignee:
The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
714 471, 714 48, 714 57
Abstract:
Various embodiments are directed to systems and method of monitoring computer equipment. For example, a plurality of computer equipment parameters may be monitored. Also, an anomaly in at least one of the plurality of computer equipment parameters may be detected and an alert interface may be generated. The alert interface may comprise an indication of a first piece of computer equipment exhibiting the anomaly; an animation of the computer equipment parameter exhibiting the anomaly over a period of time including the anomaly; and a power impact analysis indicating other pieces of computer equipment that would be affected by a failure of the first piece of computer equipment.

US Patent:
8437881, May 7, 2013
Filed:
Feb 13, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/378429
Inventors:
Stephen D. Sawczak - Elizabeth PA, US
Todd Komlenic - Beaver PA, US
Michael Adams - Pittsburgh PA, US
Assignee:
The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
G05D 3/12
G05B 13/00
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
700291, 700277, 700300, 700292, 702182, 709226
Abstract:
Methods of placing computer equipment within a server room. The methods may comprise receiving a reservation request for a first piece of computer equipment and selecting a first zone of the server room. The reservation request may specify a type of the first piece of computer equipment. Also, the power dissipated by computer equipment currently present in the first zone plus a power dissipated by the first piece of computer equipment may be less than a maximum power capacity of the first zone. The methods may also comprise selecting a first cabinet within the first zone. The first cabinet may comprise free physical space sufficient for the first piece of computer equipment. In addition, the methods may comprise reserving a portion of the first cabinet for the first piece of computer equipment.

US Patent:
20090210813, Aug 20, 2009
Filed:
Feb 13, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/378462
Inventors:
Stephen D. Sawczak - Elizabeth PA, US
Todd Komlenic - Beaver PA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715771, 702127
Abstract:
Methods of monitoring computer equipment: the methods may comprise receiving a series of sensor readings from each of a plurality of computer equipment locations and generating a user interface. The user interface may comprise an indication of each of the plurality of computer equipment locations, and an indication of a condition derived from a first sensor reading for each of the plurality of computer equipment locations. The first sensor reading may be selected from the series of sensor readings. Also, the indications of the conditions may be expressed on a visual scale. The methods may also comprise animating the user interface to chronologically display for each of the plurality of computer equipment locations, indications of the conditions derived from each sensor reading selected from the series of sensor readings.
