Filed:
Sep 3, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/654254
Inventors:
Arthur C. Stein - Gross Isle MI
Ismael Rodriguez - West Chester PA
Roland Ewaniuk - Newtown Square PA
Thomas C. Sloane - Newtown Square PA
Assignee:
JSP Licenses, Inc. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
B29C 6510
US Classification:
264 83, 264112, 264126, 264248, 264250, 264259
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a door trim panel with an integral soft armrest pad is provided which includes providing male and female steam chest mold halves, loading and restraining a cover material onto the female mold half, closing the male mold half to a fill position to form a cavity, inserting a divider into the cavity to separate the cavity into a low density volume and a high density volume, filling the high density volume with first polymeric material, filling the low density volume of the mold cavity with second polymeric material, withdrawing the divider from the mold cavity, and heating the first and second polymeric materials such that the first and second polymeric materials are melt bonded together, including at positions where particles from the first polymeric material contact particles from the second polymeric material. The low density volume creates the soft armrest pad.

US Patent:
7146831, Dec 12, 2006
Filed:
Nov 19, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/993747
Inventors:
Jeff Antonucci - West Chester PA, US
Robert Neale - Worcester, GB
Ismael Rodriguez - West Chester PA, US
Assignee:
Southco, Inc. - Concordville PA
International Classification:
G05B 55/00
US Classification:
70208, 70 78, 70467, 292175, 292DIG 31
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lockable latch for securing together a first panel to a second panel or keeper on a second panel or frame. The latch has a housing, a lockplug configured for a key, a lock collar and a return spring. When a user turns a key to rotate the lockplug and thereby lock the lockplug, the lock collar rotates through 90 degrees and a portion thereof occupies the space or gap between an edge of the first panel and a portion of the latch housing configured and dimensioned to receive the edge of the first panel or frame. As a result, space between an edge of the housing and the first panel is taken up by a portion of the locking collar due to rotation of the locking collar in the housing.

Fragmentation-Resistant Instrument Panel And Method Of Making Same

View page
US Patent:
20040256878, Dec 23, 2004
Filed:
Jun 20, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/600552
Inventors:
Nadav Rave - Malvern PA, US
Ismael Rodriguez - West Chester PA, US
Roland Ewaniuk - Newtown Square PA, US
Assignee:
JSP LICENSES, INC. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
B62D025/14
US Classification:
296/070000
Abstract:
A fragmentation-resistant instrument panel for use in a vehicle is provided which includes an outer layer having an inner surface and a core of expanded plastic of a predetermined shape and having an inner surface. The core is secured to the inner surface of the outer layer. The inner layer has an inner surface fixedly secured to the inner surface of the core to thereby at least partially encapsulate the expanded plastic foam between it and the outer layer. The instrument panel is resistant to fragmentation in the event that an impact force is applied to the inner layer. A method of making the instrument panel is also provided.

The core is secured to the inner surface of the outer layer. An inner layer is fixedly secured to the inner surface of the core to encapsulate the foam. A V-shaped groove in the core is provided where the groove has an open side open to the to the inner surface of the inner layer and a closed side adjacent to the inner surface of the outerlayer. The instrument panel will be resistant to fragmentation when an impact force is applied to the inner layer by the air bag and the V-shaped groove provides for a hinge point when the air bag is deployed such that the instrument panel directs the air bag toward a vehicle occupant. A method of manufacturing the instrument panel is also provided.

System And Method For Automated Cool On-Column Injection With Column Diameters Less Than 530 .Mu.m

View page
US Patent:
50321510, Jul 16, 1991
Filed:
Jan 17, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/466181
Inventors:
Kenneth J. Klein - Wilmington DE
Wei J. Song - Wilmington DE
Ismael Rodriguez - Media PA
Richard J. Phillips - Landenberg PA
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Company - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
B01D 1508
US Classification:
55 20
Abstract:
A system and method are shown for performing cool, on-column sample injection into a chromatographic device having a capillary column which injection is achieved through the use of a syringe having a needle. The column diameter is minimized by the provision of an inlet assembly connected to the inlet end of the column, a sealing member disposed in the inlet assembly, for forming a fluid tight seal in the inlet end when the sample is injected onto the column to prevent the sample from escaping and for reducing the effective length of the needle at the point of insertion of the needle into the column and a guide member for reducing the effective length and for supporting the needle during insertion into the column. A temperature controller for controlling the temperature of the column in the region where the sample is injected is also disclosed. The sealing member is shown to include an elastomeric member and further the system includes a mechanism for continuously cooling the elastomeric member.
