Other skills that I have picked up outside of my working arrangements are many and varied. Whilst in higher education, I accumulated a vast amount of lab experience, working with animals and dealing with hazardous substances. I am well versed in performing demonstrations for those of a younger age, both through my time at Greenwich, and in real classroom situations. With respect to the physical side of things, my extensive swimming keeps me in reasonable fitness, particularly helping with my stamina. Field expeditions, notably to Egypt, have also kept me active during my time at university. I have also completed a small amount of aircraft training, including two flights, and I hold Level Three qualifications in both kayaking and sailing. Scouting was a hobby that I pursued during my last few years in England, volunteering at my local troop and becoming the Assistant Leader. Whilst there, I have led groups on residential trips, day trips, and in on-site sessions, pushing my experience into new areas of behavior management and resource preparation. Finally, I am an ex-lifeguard, and qualified lifesaver, which is a valuable asset in any situation, particularly when there are accident-prone children involved.
