Filed:
Aug 6, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/635766
Inventors:
Mark Burlingame - Sherwood OR
Cory Burlingame - Sherwood OR
Assignee:
Columbia River Staple Lumber Wrap, Inc. - Aloha OR
International Classification:
B25C 700
US Classification:
173 18, 173 8, 173119, 173138, 221232, 221238, 221257
Abstract:
The invention comprises a staple gun with highly compact accessory apparatus for attaching a planar tab or label to a fixing surface. The accessory has a housing and a positioning and indexing assembly associated with the housing which is operable to feed and hold a tab or label between the staple gun head and fixing surface, thereby allowing single-handed fixing of a label or tab to a fixing surface. The apparatus can include a roller assembly, staple gun and accessory apparatus or have all components integrated into the construction of a staple gun apparatus. Preferably, the apparatus is mated with a tab or label holding magazine. Some exemplary embodiments of the invention are suitable for securing protective covering to lumber product and may be configured for rectangular polyolefin tabs measuring approximately 0. 035 inch thick and 1. 0 inches by 2. 0 inches.

Fastening Device And A Spacer, And A Method Of Using The Same

View page
US Patent:
6305891, Oct 23, 2001
Filed:
May 15, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/571005
Inventors:
Mark S. Burlingame - Sherwood OR
International Classification:
F16B 1500
F16B 1502
US Classification:
411469
Abstract:
A fastening device comprises a "U" shaped spacer wherein the recess of the "U" shape is captured by the upper cross bar of a staple when the staple is used to fasten a protective sheeting to an item to be stored or transported. The spacer has a flat bottom surface and a flat side surface. The flat bottom surface increases the surface area of the staple in contact with the item during transport thereby reducing the chances that the protective sheeting may become torn from the item. The flat side surface increases the surface area of the standard staple during removal of the plastic sheeting because the spacer rotates about the crossbar of the staple. This rotation of the spacer reduces frictional contact between the spacer and the protective sheeting so that when the plastic sheeting is pulled from the lumber, the plastic sheeting will pull the spacer and the staple therefrom. In a preferred embodiment, the staples and the spacers are fed along flat, parallel elongate axes underneath the handle of a staple gun to allow one-handed fastening of the staples and the spacers to a lumber unit.

Tab Strip Segments, Pluralities Of Interconnected Tabs, Fastening Devices That Utilize The Same, And Methods Of Forming The Same

View page
US Patent:
20190061410, Feb 28, 2019
Filed:
Aug 22, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/683662
Inventors:
- Sherwood OR, US
Mark Stanley Burlingame - Sherwood OR, US
International Classification:
B42F 21/04
B65B 13/02
B65B 13/30
Abstract:
Tab strip segments, pluralities of interconnected tabs, fastening devices that utilize the same, and methods of forming the same. The tab strip segments include a plurality of interconnected central tabs, an interconnected leading tab, an interconnected trailing tab, and a plurality of tab attachment structures. The interconnected leading tab defines a first portion of a strip interlock structure. The interconnected trailing tab defines a second portion of the strip interlock structure. The first portion of the strip interlock structure and the second portion of the strip interlock structure of separate tab strip segments are configured to overlap and interlock with one another to define a tab strip. The methods include providing a plurality of tab strip segments and interlocking the plurality of tab strip segments, via corresponding first and second portions of the strip interlock structure to form the plurality of interconnected tabs.
