Filed:
Feb 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/075276
Inventors:
Timothy Robey - Windham ME
Assignee:
Bellheimer Metallwerk GmbH - Belleheim/Pfalz
International Classification:
B64D 4706
US Classification:
362559, 362133, 362253, 362551, 362576, 34081542, 3406862
Abstract:
A storage and/or retrieval system such as a horizontal carousel has a common light source array consisting of LEDs and the like inside the systems rotating or movable carrier loop at a picking or storage access area behind the shelves of a selected carrier. When that carrier is at the desired access position, the common light source transmits light through light transmitting devices to an access face of the carrier at the picking or storing location in relative proximity to the actual compartments position. The light transmitting devices can be flexible light pipes arranged in patterns dictated by the type of storage required.

Vertical Carousel And Vertical Lift Module Position Indicator System

View page
US Patent:
6715910, Apr 6, 2004
Filed:
Oct 18, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/273109
Inventors:
Timothy Robey - Windham ME
Assignee:
Remstar International Inc. - Westbrook MA
International Classification:
B64D 4706
US Classification:
362559, 362133, 362253, 362551, 362 89
Abstract:
A storage and/or retrieval system such as a Vertical Carousel (VC) or Vertical Lift Module (VLM), which has a common light source or light source grid, consists of LEDs and the like incorporated into the body of the machine in proximity to the access point operators workstation. When a storage carrier/tray is delivered to the access position, the common light source transmits light through one of a light transmitting element to an access face of the storage compartment position in relative proximity to the actual compartments position. The light transmitting devices can be arranged in patterns dictated by the type of storage required (i. e. , the number of compartments within the tray can vary in size and number) individually for different trays, and are delivered over a grid pattern of light sources for annunciation.

Storage System With Access Control System

View page
US Patent:
7316536, Jan 8, 2008
Filed:
Jul 10, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/483360
Inventors:
James V Evans - Maple Valley WA, US
Timothy Robey - Windham ME, US
Paul Roy - Lewistone ME, US
Assignee:
Bellheimer Metallwerk GmbH. - Bellheim
International Classification:
B65G 1/00
US Classification:
414270
Abstract:
The invention relates to a storage system () with a storage region (), in which storage material may be stored, with an access region (), physically removed from the storage system, in which access to the storage material for deposition or withdrawal of storage material () can be achieved, and a transport means (), by means of which the storage material can be transported between the access region () and storage region (). According to the invention, an unauthorized unauthorised removal of storage material may be prevented, whereby an access control system is provided, by means of which access to the storage material support () in the access region () is permitted or blocked depending on an access authorization of the user.

Position Indicator Apparatus And Method

View page
US Patent:
7564349, Jul 21, 2009
Filed:
Jul 2, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/772789
Inventors:
Timothy Robey - Windham ME, US
Assignee:
Bellheimer Metallwerk GmbH - Bellheim/Pfalz
International Classification:
G05B 19/00
G05B 23/00
G05B 7/00
B65G 1/00
G07F 11/00
US Classification:
340540, 340 592, 41433115, 221 5
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for indicating a position of an item to be processed from a shelf is disclosed. An embodiment of the apparatus includes a frame member and an indicator moveable on the frame member. The indicator is positionable in front of the item to be processed from the shelf. In an embodiment of a method for indicating a position of an item to be processed from a shelf, the method includes moving the indicator on the frame member such that the indicator is positioned in front of the item to be processed from the shelf.

Vertical Carousel With Top And Side Access Stations

View page
US Patent:
20040101386, May 27, 2004
Filed:
Nov 22, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/301743
Inventors:
Timothy Robey - Windham ME, US
Assignee:
Bellheimer Metallwerk GmbH
International Classification:
B65G001/12
US Classification:
414/331100
Abstract:
A vertical carousel which has an access station located at the top of the machine, for access to the stored products from automated mechanisms from above rather than the side of the machine. Product can then be easily accessed via common overhead transport vehicles, such as those used in the semiconductor industry, and also can be stored one behind the other and still provide easy access.

Vertical Stacking System Using Controlled Access Method

View page
US Patent:
58366628, Nov 17, 1998
Filed:
Sep 16, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/931510
Inventors:
Timothy J. Robey - Portland ME
Assignee:
Bellheimer Metallwerk GmbH
International Classification:
A47B 4900
US Classification:
312268
Abstract:
A storage and retrieval system, such as a vertical carousel or vertical lift module, and access method provides substantially improved control over access to the contents stored in the system. A desired number of small doors are provided at an access area to limit an operator to obtaining a product from only that compartment on a carrier adjacent the access area. The doors are slidable or pivotable and can be locked and unlocked by a mechanism. The carousel is provided with carriers having compartments which can be divided into desired arrays depending upon product size and mix. The carriers are selectively movable to one of several positions adjacent the access area. Access to the carriers can be obtained through placement of an access area on one side or both sides of the machine. Electronic controls can be provided for each storage system or external computer controls can be used for a group of storage systems to permit more efficient use of the controls as well as remote placement of the storage systems.

US Patent:
59020270, May 11, 1999
Filed:
Apr 8, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/835464
Inventors:
Timothy J. Robey - Portland ME
Paul M. Roy - Lewiston ME
Assignee:
Bellheimer Metallwerk GmbH
International Classification:
A47B49/00
US Classification:
312268
Abstract:
In a vertical carousel storage and retrieval unit and the like, a restricted multi-compartment tote is used in conjunction with a height control such as a plurality of blocking rail. The tote is step-shaped and extends into the full depth of the unit. The blocking rail system allows sliding doors to be moved to one or more intermediate positions between fully open and fully closed positions in order to provide restricted authorized access to each of the compartments in sequential order from the first compartment at the front of the tote to the last compartment at the rear of the tote.
