Method For Accommodating Ported Directory Numbers Affected By Call Block Controls Implemented In A Telecommunications Network

View page
US Patent:
58964479, Apr 20, 1999
Filed:
Oct 17, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/733376
Inventors:
Jean Marie Bunge - Clare IL
Susan Maureen Harrigan - Downers Grove IL
Wayne Ronald Kalbow - Glen Ellyn IL
John William Russell - Naperville IL
Barbara Joan Schlaman - Naperville IL
Susan Marie Trebs - Crete IL
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04M 342
H04M 1500
H04M 700
US Classification:
379211
Abstract:
A method for implementing all blocking controls in a telecommunications system supporting ported directory numbers comprises initializing each switch with a call blocking control. In the preferred embodiment, ported directory numbers are identified, and a number portability data base is accessed to aid in determining whether the call blocking control applies to the ported directory number. If the ported directory number is not subject to the implemented call blocking control, the ported directory number is exempted.

Enhanced Privacy Feature For Telephone Systems

View page
US Patent:
50330764, Jul 16, 1991
Filed:
Jan 31, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/473003
Inventors:
William C. Jones - Wheaton IL
Wayne R. Kalbow - Glen Ellyn IL
Eric T. Larsen - Glen Ellyn IL
Elizabeth M. Mazur - Oswego IL
Assignee:
AT&T Bell Laboratories - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04M 157
H04M 166
H04M 338
H04M 350
US Classification:
379 67
Abstract:
This invention relates to apparatus and a method for use in conjunction with a service wherein a called telephone customer receives a display of the number of a calling telephone customer. In conjunction with this service, customers are offered a class of service and/or an option to dial a privacy request wherein their telephone number will not be displayed to the called telephone customer. In accordance with this invention, the customers are offered a class of service wherein they will receive calls only from telephone customers willing to have their telephone number displayed. If a call is made from a caller who does not wish to have his number displayed to a called customer who will not accept calls from customers unwilling to identify themselves, the caller is given a special announcement; in response to this announcement if the caller keys a special privacy override code then the call is completed with the caller's number displayed. Law enforcement agencies may be provided with a class of service which allows them to obtain a caller's number even when the caller has invoked privacy. Advantageously, such an arrangement protects telephone customers from receiving harassing calls, protects the privacy of those customers who normally do not wish to have their telephone number identified to the called customer, and permits calls to be completed between such customers.

Apparatus And Method For Providing Services Prior To Call Completion In A Telecommuncation System

View page
US Patent:
54426898, Aug 15, 1995
Filed:
Jan 29, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/010950
Inventors:
Anthony Buttitta - Chicago IL
Eric A. Duesing - Downers Grove IL
Wayne R. Kalbow - Glen Ellyn IL
Mark O. Rosstedt - Toms River NJ
Liane T. Tsai - Glen Ellyn IL
Assignee:
AT&T Corp. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04M 342
US Classification:
379201
Abstract:
In a method implemented by a telecommunications switch, a call request is made for a called party having a predetermined directory number. A determination is made if preconnection services are to be provided for the called party, and if such services are to be provided, a service node to provide the services is identified. A further determination is made if the call request is from other than the selected service node. If the call request is not from the selected service node, the call request is routed to the service node for preconnection services. If a call request is from the selected service node, the call is routed to the called party. This permits a selected service node to originate a separate call to the called party so that services can be provided on behalf of the called party in response to a call request made by a calling party. This method allows preconnection services to be provided without the requirement of multiple directory numbers being assigned to the called party.

US Patent:
41335090, Jan 9, 1979
Filed:
Dec 19, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/861646
Inventors:
William H. Kalbow - Franklin Park IL
Wayne R. Kalbow - Franklin Park IL
International Classification:
A47K 108
US Classification:
248313
Abstract:
A hanger assembly for mounting a container from the head of a nail, which nail may be driven into a wall or mounting board. The hanger comprises a hoop portion adapted to embrace the neck of a container and a tab which is attached to the free ends of the hoop portion by a pivot on one end and cam the other end, so that by turning from a horizontal to a vertical position it not only draws the free ends of the hoop together closing it about the neck of the container but also disposes a nail-admitting slot downwardly for reception of the shank of the support nail.
