Feb 17, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/356022
Inventors:
Xin Wang - Parsippany NJ, US
Tomas S. Yang - Parsippany NJ, US
Yang Yang - Parsippany NJ, US
Lily H. Zhu - Parsippany NJ, US
Assignee:
Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
G06F 11/30
US Classification:
370230, 370229, 709230, 713500, 713501, 713502, 713503, 713600, 713601, 714699, 714746, 714748
Abstract:
A method of receiving data packets. In the method of receiving data packets, a determination is made as to whether a received data packet is received out of an expected order. If the determining step determines a received packet is out of the expected order, a time period is calculated to wait for one or more missing data packets based at least in part on an expected time of receiving the one or more missing data packets.

Reducing Packet Loss For A Packet Data Service During Congestion In A Transport Network

View page
US Patent:
8000242, Aug 16, 2011
Filed:
Jul 6, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/428958
Inventors:
Xin Wang - Parsippany NJ, US
Yang Yang - Parsippany NJ, US
Lily H. Zhu - Parsippany NJ, US
Assignee:
Alcatel Lucent - Paris
International Classification:
H04J 1/16
US Classification:
370235, 370229, 370230, 3702301, 370231, 370236, 709230, 709232, 709235
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for reducing packet loss for a packet data service during congestion in a transport network are provided. The method comprises measuring a packet loss rate over a time period in one or more flows of data traffic packets associated with the packet data service to determine whether the one or more flows of data traffic packets are experiencing a variation in a desired traffic performance level at a particular time duration during the congestion in the time period. The method further comprises triggering a request to reduce a flow rate of at least one of the one or more flows of data traffic packets based on the packet loss rate if the at least one of the one or more flows of data traffic packets experiences the variation in the desired traffic performance level. By using a distributed transport congestion control, for example, only such Best Effort data traffic packet flows that generate bursty traffic at a specific moment of congestion sense the congestion and thus trigger an associated rate reduction action. However, other flows that do not experience the congestion may not be affected.

Method Of Forming A Cmos Ic Having A Compressively Stressed Metal Layer In The Nmos Area

View page
US Patent:
8435849, May 7, 2013
Filed:
Apr 5, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/440344
Inventors:
Xin Wang - New York NY, US
Zhiqiang Wu - Plano TX, US
Ramesh Venugopal - Richardson TX, US
Assignee:
Texas Instruments Incorporated - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H01L 21/8238
US Classification:
438199, 257369
Abstract:
A gate stack for an NMOS transistor in an IC to induce tensile stress in the NMOS channel is disclosed. The gate stack includes a first layer of undoped polysilicon, a second layer of n-type polysilicon to establish a desired work function in the gate, layer of compressively stressed metal, and a third layer of polysilicon to provide a silicon surface for subsequent formation of metal silicide. Candidates for the compressively stressed metal are TiN, TaN, W, and Mo. In a CMOS IC, the n-type polysilicon layer and metal layer are patterned in NMOS transistor areas, while the first polysilicon layer and third polysilicon layer are patterned in both NMOS and PMOS transistor areas. Polysilicon CMP may be used to reduce topography between the NMOS and PMOS gate stacks to facilitate gate pattern photolithography.
