Filed:
Jul 8, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/499141
Inventors:
Allison Calabrese - Memphis TN, US
Ahmad Robert Hadba - Middlefield CT, US
Walter Skalla - Old Lyme CT, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/068
B23K 26/00
US Classification:
2271761, 2271751, 21912185
Abstract:
An annular gasket for use with a circular stapling apparatus in performing an anastomosis is disclosed. The annular gasket comprises a substantially circular body portion having an upper surface, a lower surface, an outer terminal edge, and an inner terminal edge defining an aperture therein. The body portion defines a central longitudinal axis through the aperture. The annular gasket also comprises a plurality of pores extending through the body portion. Each of the pores is disposed between the outer terminal edge and the inner terminal edge and extends from the upper surface to the lower surface such that each pore defines an axis that is substantially parallel to the central longitudinal axis. An outer region of the gasket is disposed radially outward of the plurality of pores and the outer region is substantially non-porous.

US Patent:
20100130717, May 27, 2010
Filed:
Apr 21, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/594608
Inventors:
Walter Skalla - Old Lyme CT, US
Allison Calabrese - Memphis TN, US
Ahmad R. Hadba - Middlefield CT, US
Nadya Belcheva - Hamden CT, US
International Classification:
C08G 18/70
C08G 18/36
C08G 63/00
C08G 59/00
US Classification:
528 67, 528 83, 528272, 528365
Abstract:
Methods for producing biocompatible compositions are provided. The biocompatible compositions include an aliphatic polyester macromer produced without the use of solvents or catalysts. The resulting aliphatic polyester macromer may be reacted with a polyisocyanate to form an end-capped aliphatic polyester macromer which, in turn, may be reacted with a polyol to produce a polyurethane. The polyurethane, in turn, may be reacted with a second polyisocyanate to produce an isocyanate-functional polyurethane. The compositions prepared by the methods of the present disclosure may be used as adhesives or sealants for medical/surgical uses.
