Method And System For Improved Energy Utilization Of A Large Building Or Facility

View page
US Patent:
20100063641, Mar 11, 2010
Filed:
Sep 9, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/207243
Inventors:
Anno Scholten - Grapevine TX, US
Assignee:
NovusEdge, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
G06F 1/32
US Classification:
700287, 700295, 700296
Abstract:
A method and system for improved energy utilization within a building or facility. The building or facility includes one or more systems each controlling one or more energy consuming devices initially operated with a normal energy consumption. The method includes receiving notification of an energy event requiring a reduction of energy consumption within the building or facility, determining an occupancy of one or more areas of the building or facility using at least one of the one or more energy consuming devices, initiating an energy reduction mode upon receipt of the notification of an energy event, and terminating the energy reduction mode at the conclusion of the energy event. The energy reduction mode initiation includes sending a first communication to at least one of the one or more systems requesting the respective systems to operate one or more of the energy consuming devices with a reduced energy consumption during the energy reduction mode. The first communication includes the determined occupancy of the one or more areas of the building or facility. The energy reduction mode termination includes sending a second communication to at least one of the one or more systems requesting the respective systems to operate one or more of the energy consuming devices with the normal energy consumption at the conclusion of the energy event.

Automated Load Control And Dispatch System And Method

View page
US Patent:
20110202467, Aug 18, 2011
Filed:
Jan 18, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/008551
Inventors:
Del A. Hilber - Bel Air MD, US
John Petze - Keswick VA, US
Anno Scholten - Grapevine TX, US
Leighton J. Wolfe - Lexington MA, US
Peter Kelly-Detwiler - Scituate MA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 20/00
G06F 1/32
US Classification:
705 80, 700296
Abstract:
A group of electronic circuit logic blocks work together to receive a load control event message and respond thereto. A display is generated for a customer that includes (1) a set of plural load control scenarios that can be selected to respond to the load control event message and (2) an amount of reduction associated with selected load control scenarios of the plural load control scenarios that were selected in response to the load control event message. The display may also include a monetary value of the amount of reduction associated with the selected load control scenarios of the plural load control scenarios that were selected in response to the load control event message. An electronic commitment message is sent in response identifying an amount the customer will reduce a load at a time specified in the load control event message.

Variable Air Volume Environmental Management System Including A Fuzzy Logic Control System

View page
US Patent:
RE372455, Jun 26, 2001
Filed:
Sep 18, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/932652
Inventors:
Jean Henry Albert Scholten - Grapevine TX
Anno Johannes Scholten - Grapevine TX
Assignee:
EMS Control Systems International - Osborne Park
International Classification:
F24F 700
F24F 1100
US Classification:
236 493
Abstract:
A controller for a variable air volume terminal of a variable air volume air conditioning system which comprises a temperature sensing circuitry for generating a temperature process value, a setpoint determining circuitry for establishing a temperature setpoint, an airflow signal circuitry for generating an airflow setpoint in response to the temperature process value and the temperature setpoint. A flow sensing circuitry for generating a flow process value in response to a predetermined set of flow sensing inputs and damper control circuitry for generating a damper motor operation signal to control the damper motor in response to the flow process value and the airflow setpoint. The damper control circuitry comprises a fuzzy logic control mechanism for implementing a set of fuzzy logic rule-based instructions in generating the damper motor operating signal.
