My real estate career began in Alabama in 1984. In 1982, I started a company, Gravitt Contractors, to do residential and commercial remodeling. I expanded the business to include plumbing of new construction and custom home building in 1986. I built custom homes in Windy Oaks, Dogwood Forest, and Dearing Downs. I relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1999 as Office Administrator of a construction company that specialized in underground utility installation. In 2005, I acquired a Florida real estate license and activated it in 2007. From 2005 - 2007 I did some kitchen remodeling projects in Alabama. During the 2008 and 2009 tax seasons I managed an office for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service to expand my sphere of influence in Jacksonville, FL in order to assist home buyers and sellers with their real estate needs. A Realtor can show you all the properties listed on the multiple listing service (MLS) reguardless of which company or agent has the listing. Therefore, it is recommended that you interview sales associates to find one that you are comfortable working with and allow them to show you all the homes available that meet your search criteria. This simplifys you life and saves you time, energy, and frustration. All foreclosures are listed through the MLS because banks want professionals marketing the properties. Serious sellers who are in a short sale situation with their lenders are also listed on the MLS.
