Freefall Windlass With Governor

View page
US Patent:
7140598, Nov 28, 2006
Filed:
Nov 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/996281
Inventors:
David C. Verakis - Florence KY, US
David C. McBreen - Cincinnati OH, US
Assignee:
Campbell Hausfeld/Scott Fetzer Company - Harrison OH
International Classification:
B66D 1/14
US Classification:
254345
Abstract:
A freefall-type windlass includes appropriate gearing for moving the windlass spool in a retrieve direction to wrap anchor cable thereabout or to permit the anchor to drop by gravity thereby unwrapping the anchor cable from the spool. A governor gear is incorporated into the windlass to restrict the rate at which the spool can rotate when the anchor is being paid out thereby avoiding entanglement of the anchor cable and malfunctioning of the windlass.

Self-Limiting Electric Winch Assembly

View page
US Patent:
20040099853, May 27, 2004
Filed:
Nov 21, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/718872
Inventors:
David Verakis - Florence KY, US
Assignee:
Campbell Hausfeld/Scott Fetzer Company - Harrison OH
International Classification:
B66D001/14
US Classification:
254/343000
Abstract:
A winch for use in a folding camper for raising and lowering the camper, includes a reversible electric motor mounted on a chassis with a threaded rod being rotationally coupled through the electric motor. A winch spool is also rotatably coupled with the electric motor and is adapted to receive a cable used in raising and lowering the camper. A trigger mechanism is threadably engaged with a threaded rod and adapted for linear movement along the threaded rod upon rotation of the threaded rod and at least one limit switch is positioned adjacent to the threaded rod which is electrically coupled to the electric motor such that upon activation of the limit switch by the trigger mechanism, the electric motor is deactivated to stop rotation of the threaded rod and the winch spool. In the preferred embodiment, there are two limits switches to deactivate the motor in either of its reversible directions.

Winch For Boat Trailer

US Patent:
7017887, Mar 28, 2006
Filed:
Nov 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/996295
Inventors:
David C. Verakis - Florence KY, US
Assignee:
Campbell Hausfeld/Scott Fetzer Company - Harrison OH
International Classification:
B66D 1/14
US Classification:
254342, 475209, 475223
Abstract:
A low-amp winch for use on boat trailers is provided with a higher gear reduction than conventional winches and with a winch cable made of a softer material and shorter length than conventional boat winches to reduce the current draw from the motor. The winch is capable of operating off a seven-pin RV socket which provides 12 volts of DC power at no greater than 30 amps.
