US Patent:
20020065493, May 30, 2002
Filed:
Oct 26, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/039797
Inventors:
Eldon Nyhart - Zionsville IN, US
International Classification:
A61M005/32
US Classification:
604/265000, 607/002000
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for delivery of a drug or compound into a fluid flowing within a tube or catheter. In one embodiment a catheter includes an inner surface coated with a polymer matrix such as a hydrogel. The hydrogel includes captured within it a therapeutic agent. The method of capture may be by various means, including photolabile bonds between the therapeutic agent and the hydrogel. The therapeutic agent is released from the hydrogel by the application of energy to the hydrogel, such as by a laser emitting a wavelength which resonates and breaks the photolabile bond. The released therapeutic agent diffuses out of the hydrogel into the liquid flowing within a lumen of the catheter.

US Patent:
20070171418, Jul 26, 2007
Filed:
Jan 15, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/623208
Inventors:
Eldon Nyhart - Zionsville IN, US
International Classification:
G01J 4/00
US Classification:
356364000
Abstract:
A collector for propagating incident radiation to a remote location. The collector comprises, a light directing component coupled to a buffer component, a first propagation component coupled to the buffer component and configured to transmit the incident radiation into a collector region through one of a plurality of windows, and an optical transport assembly coupled to an end of the collector region and having a second propagation component. Each light directing component is configured to redirect the incident radiation from a first direction to a second direction, and the collector region includes a plurality of regions exhibiting a refractive index value that gradually transitions from about 1.5 to about 2.0. The second propagation component is further configured to retain the incident radiation.
