Pyrolysis Coke Inhibition

View page
US Patent:
41760450, Nov 27, 1979
Filed:
Jul 10, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/923519
Inventors:
Harry P. Leftin - Houston TX
David S. Newsome - Houston TX
Assignee:
Pullman Incorporated - Chicago IL
International Classification:
C10G 916
C07C 1104
US Classification:
208 48R
Abstract:
In the production of lower olefins by steam cracking normally liquid hydrocarbons at very short residence times, the formation of coke deposits in cracking furnace tubes is minimized by the addition of a low-coking hydrocarbon to fresh feed having a high coking tendency.

Abstract:
Hydrocarbon feedstocks including those containing sulfur are steam reformed in the presence of a catalyst which in the unreduced condition contains nickel oxide, rare earth metal oxide, and zirconium oxide.

Pyrolysis Process For Making Fullerenes

View page
US Patent:
60834692, Jul 4, 2000
Filed:
Apr 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/058453
Inventors:
Harry Paul Leftin - Margate FL
International Classification:
C01B 3102
US Classification:
423445B
Abstract:
Solid fullerite, comprising a mixture of C. sub. 60 and C. sub. 70 fullerenes and higher molecular weight carbon nanotropes, is produced by high temperature, short residence time, pyrolysis of a mixture of hydrocarbons, containing at least two "but less than six" carbon atoms in their molecular structures, admixed with an inert gas comprising at least one member of the Group VIII-A elements of The Periodic Table of The Elements in a substantially reduced-metals free reactor comprised of a thermally stable ceramic or pyrolytic graphite.
