System And Method For Multiplexing Digital And Analog Signals Using A Single Electrical Connector

View page
US Patent:
7298765, Nov 20, 2007
Filed:
Feb 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/366983
Inventors:
Robert B. Ganton - San Diego CA, US
James V. Pieronek - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
Kyocera Wireless Corp. - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04B 1/38
US Classification:
370537, 710 63
Abstract:
A system and a method are provided for multiplexing digital and analog signals to and from a device using a single electrical connector. The system includes a connector with at least four lines and analog and digital interfaces attached to the connector. The interfaces share: first and second analog-to-digital converters (ADCs); and first, second, and third switches. The analog interface includes an audio sub-system with a third ADC and first, second, and third digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The digital interface includes a digital sub-system. The switches have first terminals attached to the connector, second terminals connected to the third ADC and the DACs. The switches open in response to a digital mode signal, enabling a digital signal path from the digital interface terminals to the connector. The switches close in response to an analog mode signal, enabling an analog signal path from the connector to the audio sub-system.

Method And Apparatus For Authenticating A Mobile Phone Accessory

View page
US Patent:
20070135092, Jun 14, 2007
Filed:
Dec 8, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/297077
Inventors:
James Pieronek - San Diego CA, US
John Taylor - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04M 1/66
US Classification:
455411000
Abstract:
The mobile phone and the accessory communicate over a first line. The mobile phone computes or determines a challenge communication, and transmits the challenge communication over the first line to the accessory. The accessory receives the challenge communication, and computes a response communication based on the challenge communication, a hash algorithm and an electronic key. The response communication is transmitted over the first line to the mobile phone. The accessory also enables the phone accessory for use with the mobile phone. The response communication is received by the mobile phone. The mobile phone computes or determines a validation result based on the challenge communication, a hash algorithm and an electronic key. The mobile phone compares the response communication with the validation result, and enables the phone accessory for use with the mobile phone based on the comparison of the response communication with the validation result.

Radar Processing Apparatus And Method

View page
US Patent:
53941527, Feb 28, 1995
Filed:
Aug 2, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/100773
Inventors:
James V. Pieronek - Acton MA
Jeffrey L. Gertz - Marblehead MA
Assignee:
Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
G01S 1380
US Classification:
342 40
Abstract:
A radar processor comprises a multi-port memory device having memory which can be accessed by at least three ports. A first port receives input data from a data providing means. A second port couples a first processor which performs radar processing. A third port couples at least one second processor which assists the first processor by also performing radar processing. The multi-port memory device further includes an arbiter for coordinating and determining when each of the three ports can access the memory of the multi-port memory device. The first and second processors share information with each other via the multi-port memory device.

Electronic Control Of Drug Administration Via Hypodermic Needle Devices

View page
US Patent:
20190054234, Feb 21, 2019
Filed:
Aug 16, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/104038
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Robert BALLAM - Eatons Hill, AU
James PIERONEK - San Diego CA, US
Paul Robert HOFFMAN - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
A61M 5/172
A61M 5/158
Abstract:
Disclosed are hypodermic needle devices with a dose dispensing mechanism and methods of using those hypodermic needle devices. The dose dispensing mechanism, which may be an electronically-controlled pump, may be used to measure out a specific dosage amount of a drug while compensating for environmental factors, such as temperature and pressure. This allows the device to be used by patients for self-administration since a specific dosage amount of the drug may be precisely delivered regardless of the environmental conditions at the time of delivery. The specific dosage amount may be set using the device or remotely, and a fingerprint sensor may be used to prevent injecting the drug into the wrong patient.
