US Patent:
20190098099, Mar 28, 2019
Filed:
Sep 26, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/716069
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Katherine M. BASSETT - Pasadena CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/08
G06F 3/01
H04L 12/58

Abstract:
Systems, methods and computer program products to perform an operation comprising determining, based on interaction data stored in a first profile, that a first toy device communicated with a second toy device, wherein the first and second toy devices are within a predefined distance during the communication, determining at least one emotion reflected in an emotion data of the first profile, determining at least one activity reflected in an activity data of the first profile, and generating, based on the interaction data, the emotion data, and the activity data, a story depicting a plurality of emoji, wherein the plurality of emoji comprise a first emoji reflecting the first toy device communicating with the second toy device, a second emoji reflecting the at least one emotion, and a third emoji reflecting the at least one activity.

Techniques For Communicating Via Exchanges Of Physical Charms

View page
US Patent:
20190068603, Feb 28, 2019
Filed:
Aug 25, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/687391
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Larra PAOLILLI - Glendale CA, US
Katherine M. BASSETT - Pasadena CA, US
Janice ROSENTHAL - Pasadena CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
G06F 21/62
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a charm application enables user devices to communicate via physical charms. Upon receiving, from a first user device, a read request that is associated with the physical charm, the charm application identifies a message and an authorization list that are associated with the physical charm and previously received from a second user device. The charm application then determines whether a first user associated with the first user device is authorized to read the message based on the authorization list. If the first user is authorized to read the message, then the charm application transmits the message to the first user device. Notably, each physical charm may be exchanged between any number of users, but only read by authorized users via a user device. Accordingly, user devices may communicate private messages including any type of data with other user devices irrespective of whether technical infrastructures are accessible.

Augmented Reality Interactive Experience

View page
US Patent:
20180137680, May 17, 2018
Filed:
Nov 16, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/353688
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Katherine M. Bassett - Pasadena CA, US
International Classification:
G06T 19/00
G09G 5/00
G02B 27/01
Abstract:
An augmented reality (AR) system for providing an AR experience to a user of an AR venue includes a hardware processor, a memory, a light detector, a display, and an AR application stored in the memory. The hardware processor can execute the AR application to provide a virtual environment corresponding to the AR venue on the display, and to detect a light event resulting from interaction of an infrared (IR) light produced by an AR accessory utilized by the user with a surface within the AR venue. The hardware processor can further execute the AR application to identify a location of the light event within the AR venue, determine whether the location of the light event is within an activation zone of the AR venue, and render a visual effect corresponding to the light event on the display if the location is within the activation zone.

Magnetic Reader Identification Of Objects

View page
US Patent:
20180032763, Feb 1, 2018
Filed:
Aug 1, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/225644
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Katherine M. Bassett - Pasadena CA, US
International Classification:
G06K 7/08
Abstract:
A magnetic reader for identifying an object includes a hardware processor, a memory storing multiple magnetic field profiles, and a magnetic field detector. The hardware processor of the magnetic reader is configured to detect, using the magnetic field detector, a magnetic field produced by one or more elements incorporated into the object, and to measure, using the magnetic field detector, one or more characteristics of the magnetic field. The hardware processor of the magnetic reader is further configured to compare the one or more characteristics of the magnetic field to one or more of the multiple magnetic field profiles stored in the memory, and to identify the object based on the comparison.
