Source Pin Loader Method And Apparatus For Positron Emission Tomography

View page
US Patent:
6434216, Aug 13, 2002
Filed:
Mar 16, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/681326
Inventors:
Michael D. Maki - Oconomowoc WI
Thomas R. Schaefer - Germantown WI
Larry Susami - Waukesha WI
Assignee:
GE Medical Systems Global Technology Company, LLC - Waukesha WI
International Classification:
G01T 1166
US Classification:
378 9, 25036304, 25036303
Abstract:
In the exemplary embodiment, a method is provided for transporting a source pin in a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) system. The PET system includes a storage device, a transmission ring, and a source pin loader. The method includes aligning the transmission ring and the source pin, linearly moving the source pin to the transmission ring, and operatively engaging the source pin in the transmission ring.

Retractable Collimator Apparatus For A Ct-Pet System

View page
US Patent:
6700949, Mar 2, 2004
Filed:
Sep 25, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/962868
Inventors:
Larry Susami - Waukesha WI
Michael Dale Maki - Oconomowoc WI
Thomas Robert Schaefer - Germantown WI
Assignee:
GE Medical Systems Global Technology LLC - Waukesha WI
International Classification:
H05G 160
US Classification:
378 19, 378 4, 378 20, 378 11, 378145, 378147, 378195, 25036303, 2503631
Abstract:
An apparatus for use with a combined CT-PET system wherein a CT source and detector are mounted to a front end of a CT support and the support forms a parking space about a translation axis, a PET detector is mounted to a rear end of the support and a collimator support extends from the PET detector at least part way into the parking space, a collimator is mounted to the collimator support for movement between first and second positions inside the PET detector and outside the PET detector and at least partially within the parking space, respectively, a radiation blocking shield is mounted to the PET detector opposite the CT support to block radiation from that direction from being detected by the PET detector.

Angulating Lateral Fluoroscopic Suspension

View page
US Patent:
45010110, Feb 19, 1985
Filed:
Sep 22, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/421603
Inventors:
Robert B. Hauck - Delafield WI
Larry Susami - Wauwatosa WI
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
G03B 4116
US Classification:
378196
Abstract:
Means for coupling an independently suspended medical x-ray source and detector for lateral fluorographic studies such as angiography. When coupled, the x-ray source and detector move vertically in opposite directions, move horizontally toward or away from each other, and pivot about horizontal axes so the distances between the focal spot and isocenter of examination and between the isocenter and image each remain constant, and so the central ray of the source coincides with the central ray of the detector. The bridge also rotates to rotate the entire assembly about a vertical axis passing through the isocenter. The x-ray source and detector are independently hung from the ceiling to support them directly above their centers of weight, eliminating the bending moments and oscillation which are inherent features of prior C-arm structures.

Stabilization System For A Medical Diagnostic Device

View page
US Patent:
42354544, Nov 25, 1980
Filed:
Nov 3, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/957530
Inventors:
Floyd L. Gray - Hales Corner WI
Jerome H. Adam - Waukesha WI
Larry Susami - Wauwatosa WI
Rick A. Zamzow - Waukesha WI
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Milwaukee WI
International Classification:
B60S 918
US Classification:
280766
Abstract:
A mobile medical diagnostic device having a mobility chassis with two supporting wheels and a central steerable drive wheel. The device has an electrical power steering system controlled by two synchronized handles operable by wrist action of an operator walking behind the device. The handles include a rotatable grip for controlling the velocity of the device. Advancing the grip actuates the throttle to the drive wheel and retarding the grip actuates a proportional electromechanical braking system. The device includes a proximity detector system which uses ultrasonic transducers to determine when an obstacle is within close proximity to the device, and to responsively and automatically actuate the brake system. The device has a stabilization system which automatically extends an outboard support on each side of the central wheel when the device is positioned for diagnostic analysis and automatically retracts the supports to facilitate mobility of the device.
