Mark C. Langenohl - Pleasant Hills PA
Assignee:
Indresco Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
C04B 3556
US Classification:

Method Of Applying A Non-Slumping Pumpable Castable High Purity Silica Composition

View page
US Patent:
62680188, Jul 31, 2001
Filed:
Feb 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/246486
Inventors:
Mark C. Langenohl - Pittsburgh PA
Assignee:
Harbison-Walker Refractories Company - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
B05D 500
US Classification:
427133
Abstract:
A method of applying a castable refractory composition using a form. The refractory composition consists essentially of from about 50. 0 weight percent to about 99. 9 weight percent of a high purity silicon dioxide and from about 0. 1 weight percent to about 30. 0 weight percent of a potassium silicate binder. About 0. 1 weight percent to about 30 weight percent water based upon 100 weight percent of the refractory composition may be added to achieve a pumpable consistency of the refractory composition.

Non-Slumping, Pumpable Castable And Method Of Applying The Same

US Patent:
55123252, Apr 30, 1996
Filed:
Apr 12, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/420912
Inventors:
Mark C. Langenohl - Pittsburgh PA
Gustav O. Hughes - Wilkensburg PA
Assignee:
Indresco Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
B05D 102
US Classification:
427421
Abstract:
An essentially non-slumping, high density, low moisture and low cement castable composition, consisting of a tempered, pumpable first component containing the castable solids and consisting essentially of a refractory aggregate, a calcium-aluminate cement, a flow aid, a deflocculating agent, and water, the water being present in the lowest amount sufficient to achieve a pumpable consistency of the tempered first component, and a flocculating agent as a second component to be added to said first component at time of installation in an amount sufficient to give the castable a dried bulk density of at least about 120 pcf. The invention also includes the method of applying such castable through a spray nozzle in which the flocculating agent is added to the tempered first component just prior to its application through a spray nozzle.

View page
US Patent:
53407822, Aug 23, 1994
Filed:
Jul 26, 1993
Appl. No.:

Inventors:
Mark C. Langenohl - Pittsburgh PA
Assignee:
Indresco Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
C04B 3514
US Classification:
501133
Abstract:

Non-Slumping, Pumpable Castable High Purity Silica Composition

View page
US Patent:
61904481, Feb 20, 2001
Filed:
Feb 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/246473
Inventors:
Mark C. Langenohl - Pittsburgh PA
Assignee:
Harbison-Walker Refractories Company - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
C04B 2826
C09D 102
US Classification:
106600
Abstract:
A refractory composition is disclosed comprising a high purity silicon dioxide and a binder. This refractory composition may be applied by trowelling, brushing, casting, pumping and/or spraying it on a worn and/or damaged high purity silica refractory surface. A refractory castable composition is also disclosed that may be employed with forms. Further, an essentially non-slumping, sprayable refractory castable composition that is applied without the use of forms is provided. The sprayable refractory castable composition comprises (a) a tempered, pumpable first component comprising (i) a high purity silicon dioxide and a binder, and (ii) water, if needed, to achieve a pumpable consistency, and (b) a second component comprising a flocculating agent. The flocculating agent is added to the first component for achieving installation of the sprayable refractory composition in an amount to prevent slumping of the sprayable refractory castable composition.
