Card Device For Connection To A Usb Receptacle

View page
US Patent:
7377448, May 27, 2008
Filed:
Aug 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/464499
Inventors:
Raz Dan - San Jose CA, US
Itzhak Pomerantz - Kfar Saba, IL
Assignee:
Sandisk IL Ltd - Kfar Saba
International Classification:
G06K 19/06
US Classification:
235492, 235380
Abstract:
A card device has a generally rectangular body formed from flexible material and including electronic circuitry electrically connected to a set of electrical contacts. At least part of the card device is flexed, bent or folded in such a manner that the inherent resilience of the card material provides a force for pressing the set of contacts against the electrical contacts of a USB receptacle.

Maintaining Integrity Of Preloaded Content In Non-Volatile Memory During Surface Mounting

View page
US Patent:
8179717, May 15, 2012
Filed:
Sep 29, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/569869
Inventors:
Zac Shepard - San Jose CA, US
Xiaoyu Yang - Campbell CA, US
Albert Meeks - Sunnyvale CA, US
Qing Li - San Jose CA, US
Enosh Levi - Sunnyvale CA, US
Kim Le - San Jose CA, US
Raz Dan - San Jose CA, US
Brian Murphy - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
SanDisk Technologies Inc. - Plano TX
International Classification:
G11C 11/34
G11C 16/04
US Classification:
36518502, 36518509, 438106
Abstract:
A non-volatile memory chip package is prepared for surface mounting to a substrate in a solder reflow process by programming erased blocks to higher threshold voltage levels, to improve data retention for blocks which are preloaded with content, such as by an electronic device manufacturer. Following the surface mounting, the previously-erased blocks are returned to the erased state. The threshold voltage of storage elements of the preloaded blocks can change during the surface mounting process due to a global charge effect phenomenon. The effect is most prominent for higher state storage elements which are surrounded by erased blocks, in a chip for which the wafer backside was thinned and polished. The erased blocks can be programmed using a single program pulse without performing a verify operation, as a wide threshold voltage distribution is acceptable.

Flash Memory Device Within A Business Card

View page
US Patent:
20060273154, Dec 7, 2006
Filed:
Jun 1, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/444385
Inventors:
Raz Dan - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
G06K 5/00
G06K 19/06
US Classification:
235380000, 235492000
Abstract:
A flash memory device including a housing, having a form factor of a business card bearing printed information, a non-volatile memory within the housing, for storing digital information, and a connecting mechanism within the housing for a direct operational connection of the non-volatile memory to a host, such that the digital information stored in the non-volatile memory is accessible to the host via the connecting mechanism. At least one slit located within the housing provides a somewhat elastically bendable portion within the housing that includes the connecting mechanism. The scope of the invention also provides configuring the non-volatile memory to allow only an authorized party to access personal information stored in the non-volatile memory.

Lockable Removable Disk Drive

View page
US Patent:
20070016965, Jan 18, 2007
Filed:
Dec 28, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/318473
Inventors:
Raz Dan - San Jose CA, US
Itzhak Pomerantz - Kfar Saba, IL
International Classification:
G06F 1/26
US Classification:
726034000
Abstract:
Systems and methods for reversibly preventing the coupling of a non-volatile memory device to a host device such as a microcomputer are disclosed. Exemplary non-volatile memory devices include but are not limited to hard disk drives and flash memory devices. According to some embodiments, a locking mechanism reversibly prevents physical coupling. According to some embodiments, a mechanical locking mechanism is operative to prevent the coupling of the non-volatile memory to the host device when in a locked configuration, and upon engagement with a proper key the mechanical locking mechanism adopts an unlocked configuration to permit coupling of the non-volatile memory device to the host device. According to some embodiments, a locking mechanism prevents coupling of the non-volatile memory device to the host device without a presence of a proper electronic token.

US Patent:
20080028146, Jan 31, 2008
Filed:
Jan 22, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/655864
Inventors:
Raz Dan - San Jose CA, US
Itzhak Pomerantz - Kfar Saba, IL
International Classification:
G06F 12/00
G06F 13/00
US Classification:
711115, 711154
Abstract:
A portable storage device includes a storage area for storing data; a first connector operative to enable access to only a first portion of the storage area; a second connector operative to enable access to only a second portion of the storage area; and a single housing that accommodates the storage area, the first connector and the second connector. An access control mechanism also controls access to the first portion of the storage area.
