Systems And Methods For Determining The Location Of A Request On A Content Delivery Network

View page
US Patent:
8103780, Jan 24, 2012
Filed:
Dec 18, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/337930
Inventors:
Sunil Maloo - Edison NJ, US
Assignee:
AT&T Intellectual Property I, LP - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
H04N 7/173
US Classification:
709227, 725109
Abstract:
A client computing system includes a processor that receives a domain name and determines if the domain name is in a list of domain names that are associated with a content delivery network (CDN). In response to determining that the first domain name is in the list, the processor directs a domain name system (DNS) request to a CDN DNS server, instead of to the default DNS server.

US Patent:
20100161799, Jun 24, 2010
Filed:
Dec 18, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/337929
Inventors:
Sunil Maloo - Edison NJ, US
Assignee:
AT&T CORP. - New York NY
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709226
Abstract:
A method receives from a first server a first domain name system (DNS) request including a first internet protocol (IP) address of the first server, and a second IP address received by the first server from a first system. The method also maps a correlation between the first IP address and the second IP address, and receives from the first server a second DNS request. In response to receiving the second DNS request, the method responds to the first server with a third IP address of a second server, wherein the third IP address is chosen based upon the second IP address.

Assignee:
AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709231
Abstract:
A plurality of multimedia data streams that are being provided via an internet protocol (IP) network is received, wherein each multimedia data stream carries multimedia content. Real-time metadata relating to the plurality of multimedia data streams is generated based on the multimedia content. The metadata is provided in real-time in a metadata stream to a plurality of user devices, via the IP network. The plurality of multimedia data streams may be multicast within the IP network. The metadata may be multicast in real-time in a metadata stream to a plurality of user devices, via the IP network.

US Patent:
20120096128, Apr 19, 2012
Filed:
Dec 21, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/333516
Inventors:
Sunil Maloo - Edison NJ, US
Assignee:
AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709219
Abstract:
A domain name server includes a processor operable to receive a domain name system request, determine a source Internet protocol address of the request, and in response to determining the source Internet protocol address to send a prompt to a client system associated with the source Internet protocol address and receive a reply from the client system. In response to receiving the reply the processor selects a content server that is closer to the source Internet protocol address than another content server. In response to selecting the content server the processor composes a file including a list of domain names that are associated with the content delivery network and an Internet protocol address associated with the content server. The processor sends the file to the client system.

US Patent:
20120317235, Dec 13, 2012
Filed:
Jun 9, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/156849
Inventors:
Han Q. Nguyen - Marlboro NJ, US
Sunil Maloo - Edison NJ, US
Douglas M. Nortz - Red Bank NJ, US
Assignee:
AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709219
Abstract:
A content distribution network includes a first server in communication with an anycast server that provides content via a unicast signal, and with a multicast server that provides the content via a multicast signal. The first server is configured to receive a list of source addresses associated with the content, and to provide a metadata file including an anycast Internet protocol address of the anycast server from the list of source addresses as an Internet protocol address of the content in response to a first request for the content. When the number of client devices requesting the content exceeds a first threshold, the first server receives an updated list of sources including a multicast Internet protocol address of a multicast server, and provides the multicast Internet protocol address of the multicast server as the Internet protocol address of the content in the metadata file.

Sunil Maloo - Edison NJ, US
Assignee:
AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709203
Abstract:
A load balancer forwards a content request from a client system to a proxy server, receives from the proxy server a modified content request based on the content request and including information identifying a content origin server, opens a connection with the content origin server in response to receiving the first modified content request, and sends a second modified content request based upon the first modified content request to the content origin server. The load balancer also receives content associated with the content request from the content origin server, and forwards the content to the client system.

H04L 41/0806
H04L 9/40
H04L 41/0893
H04L 41/08
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining, an application requirement for a server of a data center geographically separated from a central location. A configuration file adapted for the server according to the application requirement is obtained at the central location and a host processor located at the data center is selected according to the application requirement. A static IP address preassigned to an administrative portion of the selected host processor is identified. The selected host processor is initialized remotely over a wide area network via the administrative port without utilizing any software resources pre-existing at the data center. The initializing configures the selected host processor according to the configuration file to service the application requirement. Other embodiments are disclosed.
