Abstract:
The present subject matter relates to systems and methods related to licensing and licensing activation. In particular, the present subject matter relates to a system and method for managing the overall licensing and function/feature deployment process throughout an enterprise, and more particularly, to product licensing and product function or feature enablement of products in a secured manner by way of the activation of a security device. More particularly, the present approach involves allowing for the customization of a security device to accommodate product updates and/or new product functions or features to be enabled.

Browser Based User Interface For Dynamic Interaction And Control Within A Mail Processing Environment

View page
US Patent:
20080016170, Jan 17, 2008
Filed:
Apr 13, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/785062
Inventors:
Mark MacKelprang - Cary NC, US
Michael Maselli - Cary NC, US
Roger Spitzing - Ontario, CA
Victor Tolomei - Raleigh NC, US
Bob Richards - Ontario, CA
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709206000
Abstract:
A Resource Connectivity Module (RCM) with an associated interface for network communication to/from a user terminal device provides a uniform user interface for a number of different types of management functions across diverse resources within a mail processing environment. The example uses a browser interface that offers a web interface, to provide an interactive user interface to the mail management functions via the terminal. The RCM implements one or more management control modules, e.g. for reporting and/or control functions in respective function categories. The exemplary RCM also includes one or more resource message handlers communicating with systems of the mail processing environment, e.g. in different protocols. An event handler extracts event data from message data at the message handlers for use by the management control modules and provides necessary data to the message handlers for transmissions responsive to event data from the management control modules.

Intelligent Document Composition For Mail Processing

View page
US Patent:
20080291486, Nov 27, 2008
Filed:
May 22, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/802301
Inventors:
Marvin L. Isles - Chicago IL, US
Victor Tolomei - Raleigh NC, US
Mark G. Mackelprang - Cary NC, US
Leondo Rasheed Phifer - Chicago Heights IL, US
Walter S. Conard - Lake Villa IL, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/12
G06F 15/00
G06Q 30/00
US Classification:
358 115, 705 14
Abstract:
A data engine collects real-time information associated with the operations of hard copy mail processors. In the example, the data engine also aggregates data relating to one or more phases of electronic document generation, e.g. document composition and/or printstream processing (re-composition). Analysis of the data enables conditions, states or events of one or more of the phases of the mail processing lifecycle to influence the operations and execution of one or more phases in real-time. For example, the data engine can apply processing rules to recommend or dynamically execute action in the document composition or printstream phases, to improve operations in the mail processing facility. Furthermore, the data engine may also provide suggestions for standardizing various steps of mail processing or upgrading of equipment of the mail processing facility, so as to increase overall mail processing effectiveness.

Centralized Production Management For Measuring Mail Industry Processing Performance

View page
US Patent:
20090070338, Mar 12, 2009
Filed:
Dec 27, 2007
Appl. No.:
12/005417
Inventors:
Roger Spitzig - Ontario, CA
Michael J. Maselli - Cary NC, US
Bob Richards - Ontario, CA
Victor Tolomei - Raleigh NC, US
Mark G. Mackelprang - Cary NC, US
Alexander Murray - Ontario, CA
Eric Moreau - Ontario, CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707 10, 707E17032
Abstract:
In the disclosed example, an Intelligence Management System (IMS) collects data pertaining to operations of resources of various document processing environments operated by different entities into a database. The IMS processes data from the database according to criteria, to generate at least one anonymous performance metric representing operational performance of resources within a number of the document processing environments. The anonymous metric may be presented to a user, such as personnel of one of the operating entities. If the user has sufficient access privileges, the IMS may also generate a similar client specific metric from data for one or more environments with which the user is associated, for example, to allow benchmark comparison of the operational performance of the associated environment(s) against the anonymous performance metric.

Print Stream Processing Module Optimizer For Document Processing

View page
US Patent:
20090268250, Oct 29, 2009
Filed:
Apr 29, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/432198
Inventors:
Victor TOLOMEI - Raleigh NC, US
Michael J. McIntee - El Dorado Hills CA, US
Uwe Meister - Elk Grove CA, US
International Classification:
G06K 15/02
US Classification:
358 118
Abstract:
One or more print streams destined for one or more print stream processing modules are optimized prior to printing, based on relevant document attributes. Optimization may balance operation time of a first processing module with that of a second processing module, by appropriate assigning of documents to the print streams. Optimization may separate input print file document pages into sort groups and/or order sort group documents from largest to smallest. Optimization may allocate documents to optimize the inserter throughput without damaging the integrity of the sort groups. With 2-up or 3-up printing or the like, allocation of sort groups between the multiple outputs to be created after printed paper is split may ensure that parallel paper document outputs are as nearly the same length as possible, to minimize paper wastage. Separation of pages of the same document among different streams/modules can be avoided.
